Things I love about Fez- November 8

- people tend to dress very modestly
- the faith of the people affects every part of their life
- people are very communal and tend to share everything. A group of people always eats off of a plate together and the beggars on the street ask anybody drinking anything for a sip of their drink (okay that last part isn't my favorite, but I like the communal aspect of it).
- people are very hospitable and welcoming of other people.

  1. Wow! We enjoyed your pictures! It sounds like you've been meeting lots of people and having some neat experiences outside of the school. And it sounds like you & the teacher really managed to engage the students on the election of principal. Too bad they were so disappointed w/ the results. Next time you'll have to come up with some group prize. (Have the newly elected principal immediately announce that there is going to be a party the next day!) Obviously it is a culture that expresses their emotions more than the Japanese!

It's hard to believe that you haven't even be away a month yet! You have been so busy! I'm glad you found time to finally wash clothes. Do you have to go to a laundry mat?

  2. yay for sharing from the same plate! I think I'd fit in perfectly ;D
haha - no joke about the emotions mom/dad - but I think it's beautiful! Kinda sad... how much we can learn from them about God being the center of every aspect of our lives.

  3. haha... the comment about the emotions is definitely true!! I know, I can't believe I've only been gone 2 and a half weeks! It feels like it's been at least a month.
We have a washing machine at the apartment.
I definitely enjoy sharing from the same plate. I just hope I don't get sick from it. Praise God for good health so far!!
Lili- that's true... I just wish it was not so hypocritical at times/ that people really understood why they did it. People here tend to do things because of their religion, but could never tell you how it works/ why.
